Thirteen Months of Memories is about the experiences of Huhana Smith’s partner Richard Anderson’s memory loss, and the reverberating impacts Alzheimer’s has had on him, and those closest to him.
The exhibition explores Huhana Smith’s and Ciaran Banks’ personal experiences with severe cognitive impairment and short-term memory losses, with reference to their work as ardent kaitiaki environmentalists. This is a collaborative project, as each one of the paintings are held by Ciaran Banks’ distinctive sculptural wooden frames.
