Weavers’ Hands Talk
Join Toi Māori Curator Kohai Grace and artists from Toiora for weaving demonstrations of this highly valued, ancient art form handed down from their tūpuna (ancestors).
While there visit the exhibition – Toiora: Ki te Pō ki te Ao, The Art of Wellbeing: Through Light and Shadow.
Based in various locations around Aotearoa, this artist group have remained connected through their weaving practices and friendships; remembering also, their origins from Te Wānanga o Raukawa, Ōtaki that has continued to nurture and foster weaving mentor relationships since the 1990s.
The artists will be present in the gallery from 11:00am—3:00pm.
Toi Māori curator Kohai Grace will give a curator talk at 12:00pm.
