Arotake Toi | Mahara Arts Review showcases the work of emerging and established artists in the Kāpiti and Horowhenua region.
Submissions are open until 31 August 2025.
Eligibility and acceptance of work:
- Artists may submit 1 original artwork.
- Work must have been completed in the last year, between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025.
- Artists must live, work, or study in the Kāpiti/Horowhenua region (as defined by Council boundaries).
- Work should not have been shown elsewhere in the Kāpiti or Horowhenua region prior to this exhibition.
- Works should not exceed 2 metres in any direction or be heavier than 20kg.
- Work must not contain any unauthorised use of any copyright images, photographs, text or other material.
- Work may not have any AI-generated element.
- Entry will be by online form submission of up to two high quality photographs of the work being submitted, alongside the completed entry form.
- Notification: All entrants will be notified by email as to the outcome of the selection process. Notifications will be sent out by 22 September 2025.
- Artists are responsible for delivery and collection of artwork that is accepted into the exhibition to the gallery, and for insurance during transit if necessary.
- Accepted work should be delivered framed and ready to hang, or with installation advice for sculpture or moving image work as required. We do not have capacity to offer gallery frames for re-use, but can give mounting and framing advice if timing allows. We contract professional installers and lighting technicians and individual works cannot be rehung or lighting be redone once the exhibition has been installed.
- Selected work for Arotake Toi | Mahara Arts Review will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
- Work is judged anonymously and up to 50 entries will be chosen to be part of the show.
- Artforms may include ceramics, digital, drawing & painting, jewellery, AV & moving image, photography, print-making, sculpture, textiles, toi Māori, wearable art. AI-generated works will not be accepted.
