About Lea Bramley
Lea Bramley’s exploration started as a diver for agar and a beach-comber on the wild and beautiful South Wairarapa Coast. She began by creating art sculptures but discovered there was a lot more to these marine plants than she realised. Her exploration led her to travel across the world to meet with the creator of Seaflora skincare, the author of Irish Seaweed Kitchen and others who have accelerated seaweed cuisine, medicine and seaweed bathing.
On her return, Lea initiated a study with Otago University Professor John Evans to examine some local seaweed extracts and their effects on endometrial cancer cells. She has continued to explore the culinary and health benefits including with renowned chefs Al Brown and Jo Crabb and Wendy Nelson, author of New Zealand Seaweeds.
